The tropical sanctuary in Port Douglas was a perect 10. Our family with a 11 yr old son and 14 year old daughter have not traveled much internationally and found Australia to be the vacation of a life time. Seion was well apppointed with the whole family liking different things. Birds came right onto the deck for a visit and we all made use of the lovely day bed & pool right outside the villa in the backyard. My Hubby enjoyed the easy access wi-fi and flat screen TV's. I was equally impressed with all the people we met in Australia that were friendly, helpful and above all else genuine. We felt safe and catered to, by the staff. We spent our time taking an easy walk to 4 Mile Beach or a quick drive to the center of Port Douglas. I would move Australia to the top of your "bucket list" and know that this lovely 3 bedroom villa exceeded my expectations.

We stayed in this gorgeous villa for 5 nights, and wished we could have stayed longer. An internal courtyard with pond and covered walkways linked the 3 bedrooms and the main open plan living area and kitchen. The living area had high, raked ceilings and huge sliding glass doors opening it right up to the backyard and plunge pool. The sliding mechanism on the doors was a little bit tricky, but we managed to figure it out.The plunge pool in the backyard has a massive daybed and looked out into rainforest. It was very private, and we were certainly happy that we chose this villa instead of one that overlooks, and is overlooked by, the common grounds of the resort. It was so lovely sitting in the plunge pool drinking wine. Everything is so green and the gardens were just beautiful. For a proper swim, we were able to use the large pool in the main resort area - a gorgeous infinity pool surrounded by lily ponds. We were lucky enough to have it to ourselves on a couple of occasions. We also enjoyed playing tennis at the resort and were able to borrow rackets and balls from the resort concierge. We found the resort staff very helpful if we needed ideas for things to do and places to eat. We ate out a couple of nights at a some of pd's great restaurants, but as we enjoyed being at the house so much, mostly ate in. The modern kitchen was very well equipped - even had miele appliances. The villa also has its own bbq and laundry facilities, a bose sound system, and air conditioning throughout. Our main bedroom had a wonderful, large ensuite, and access to an outdoor shower. The resort, where the villa is located (Peppers Bale), is just across the road from a little providore style cafe called Otz, where we enjoyed some yummy breakfasts and prob the best coffee tin pd. The villa is also just a short walk to 4 mile beach. Apart from eating and drinking a lot, we also toured the daintree (Tony's Tours), did some fantastic snorkelling at the great barrier reef, and went to the pd markets. The resort is about a 5 minute drive from town, so it is necessary to hire a car, but we found this essential so we could visit tourist attractions, and drive from Cairns airport. Having been burnt in the past by other "luxury resorts", which were a far cry from being luxurious, it was great to stay somewhere that delivered what it advertised. We highly recommend this property for a romantic getaway, but would also be great for three couples or a small family.
